Apart fron the initial sign in, which was delayed, due to not being able to find my on-line booking easily, the 3 days I stayed were above average. I found security good, presentaion of all common areas excellent and good housekeeping, I was very surprised at minmal noise level, even being on a main rd, would go back anytime.

Location is a bit far from the airport but it’s a block from the sky tower. The staff was helpful with directions and providing information and cleaned every morning. Overall a decent value for a hostel.

Nice place to stay. Great atmostphere in the kitchen. Some guests were playing music However, half of stove were not working and I hope there was enough space in the refrigerator

I wanted to stay at a place close to the center of Auckland, at a good price, and this place was right next to the Sky Tower! The staff was friendly and helpful, and best of all, I was able to make many friends from different countries just by hanging around in the kitchen!! Very International!

Liked: Great location, cheap, friendly staff and a nice place to relax in the big city .
Disliked: The bathrooms could be more clean and the carpet in the room

Liked: When i arrived the reception team was really nice to me and give me a lot of informations about auckland and NZ in generally,
what was really usefull for me, because was the first day in NZ for me. It’s a good place to meet other people, special in the kitchen and in the TV room.
The Hostel is really clean. The housekeeping is cleaning every couple of hours the kitchen and bathrooms, special after lunch and dinner times.
I plan to travel around NZ and if all hostel, where i will stay in the futuere, are like this i am really happy!! I suggest that hostel, special people who are new in Auckland!!

“such a nice location and good advisor for me”

Intercity bus stop, Countdown (supermarket) and Sky Tower are very close to this hotel. The hostel is located in the middle of the city!! Great location!!
It was a nice time when i stay there!! In addition, The room rate was reasonable. It was only $20 in a 8 bed dorm. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They can speak many different languages.

“Friendly staff, Good location”

I stayed this backpackers while I was traveling in Auckland. The staff were very friendly and the most good thing was a good location. There are also Korean staff so it was easy to make a reservation for me.
The kitchen was so hot while I was cooking though….I didn’t want to cook at the kitchen…

“Awesome hostel”

I had an awesome time there. Stayed for a week and was really happy with it. friendly staff and they actually clean the rooms. It is really central, with a supermarket and bars just around the corner and not even 2 minutes to the main street. Special deal for staying a week or month and free wifi.

A warm place ”

I spent one week in this hostel. In my opinion is really nice. The staff is really kind. They helped me in organize my trip around New Zealand with a lot of options and information that I had no idea. They plan all my trip at a really good price. Is not a dry hostel and you have a smoking area, you can sit there and don’t have go out to smoke in the street. The rooms are quiet. I stayed in a 10 bed without any problem. The bathroom is clean and airy.
I recomend this place.

“Nice place to stay”

I’ve been in New Zealand for about 6 months, in different places.
Every backpackers has something special, but on this backpackers happens something really amazing, the people who works there it’s really nice (cleaners, receptionist, managers), always they are sharing with others and having a great time near to the reception, in the kitchen or in the smoking area.
It’s a clean place and the rooms are ok for the price.

If you want to have a good experience with different kind of people and in an excelent environment, I definitely recommend this backpackers.

Awesome! The location is the best of Auckland, moreover a new countdown was just opening! The staff were so friendly, they helped me to organize all my trip in NZ… They were calling for me to book an other hostels and reserve all my bus.. I was in 2 others backpackers the night before and the kitchen was closed at 22pm.. Here you can cooking all the night! Definitely awesome!!

Awesome location and has all you need. Highly recommended if you are not into staying in a huge hostel like nomads and base.

The curtains in the rooms need to be thicker, or another layer as the street lights shone through very easily. I used the second floor bathroom, there needs to be a dresser/buffet or similar against the window… because the doors open the wrong way to each other in the showers and leave no space to manevour. There needs to be a second hook on the walls of each dry space in the shower

“I will be back…”

This hostel was great. All the staff was really friendly and super helpful with
recommendations about where to go and how to get started in Auckland. The atmosphere
was perfect as well, everyone is so welcoming and itʼs really helpful that the receptionists
are from all around the world and speak many languages. Especially in the beginning
when I just arrived they made sure I felt at home and comfortable. The hostel is located
right in the center of town, itʼs clean and comfortable and most of all safe.
From the second I arrived I was looked after and there was always someone to give me
advice about organizational things like getting an IRD number, bank account etc. As well
as planning activities and recommending things to do, places to visit. Straight away I was
informed about all different ways to travel around and get the most out of my stay in NZ.
They played a big roll in making my trip unique and it was great to get some insider tips off
of other travelers.
All in all my stay at the Surf ʻNʼ Snow was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone.
